- Respect everyone. That means the staff, and all your fellow roleplayers here. Just because you have a rude character doesn't mean that you yourself have the right to be rude to others. You're not the ruler of the world.
- Don't spam. Spamming here is a big no-no. This goes for the c-box and any other board on this site. When it comes to your characters, please don't bump the thread or spam the c-box asking for someone to approve of it. You may send a staff member one PM asking for approval after you have finished your character. After that, please don't continue to ask unless it has been a substantially long wait.
- Keep it PG-13 According to the proboards ToS, we are required to be a PG-13 site. This means no pornography, images of inappropriate things, or excessive use of foul language. You are allowed to curse in and out of character, but if you are dropping an F-bomb every other word or sentence, I'm going to have to ask you to stop. Failure to comply will result in being banned.
- Don't be a thief. Give credit where credit is due. No one likes seeing their work being stolen and having someone else get the credit for all their hard work. You wouldn't like it, and neither does anyone else. If we find that you've stolen something (an image, a template, anything) without giving credit to its creator, you will be banned, no "ifs", "ands" or "buts" about it. I will not tolerate it.
In-Character Rules
- Use the template given. This is referring to the character application template that we have. Having all the profiles look uniform makes for a very organized forum.
- Don't stretch the forum. The maximum width of anything you post (a photo, a template, anything else) is 500 pixels across. There are some picture resizing sites that work very nicely and stretched threads are an eyesore to look at.
- A 200-word minimum Two-hundred words isn't all that much to ask for when it comes to a reply. It's hard to reply to something that doesn't have any body to it. I understand that we all get writer's block every now and then, but it's hard to believe that one may experience it for every hour of every day or every week of every month that they're here. 200 words is a good enough goal for those who are starting out and enough to give others to reply to.
- No one-liners. Continuing off of the one above this, please don't post one-line replies. Even the best roleplayers can hardly respond if there's nothing to reply to. Be nice and follow the 200 word minimum please.
- Reply in third person. No, not first person or second person (I'm not sure how you'd manage that). Every in-character post much be in third person. This means that you will write "He/She/They did this or that." in past tense. Not "He/She/they run to this place." It's much easier to understand third person.
- No mary-sues/gary-stus. If you don't know what these are, these are 'perfect' characters. I love awesome people because of their awesomeness. But please, please, PLEASE, try to keep the awesome levels to a minimum. I don't want to roleplay with a girl who's got every guy falling at her feet but has promised to stay pure and is raped when she was young by her father then molested later by some gang. I don't want characters that have every girl in the school after them or can understand pokemon and befriend them just by looking at them.. Please, no one is really like that and they won't be accepted here.
- No god-moding or power-playing. For those of you that don't know what these are, god-moding is similar to a mary-sue/gary-stu. This is when your level five magikarp has the ability to dodge every attack and somehow beat a level 72 Dragonite. It's severely frowned upon. Power-playing, on the other hand, is when you control another person's character or pokemon (ie. control their actions or something they say). This is frowned upon and will earn you a warning.
- No Legendaries. Just because the legendary pokemon are moving more than usual, that doesn't mean that a beginning trainer (or even an experienced one) will spot a legendary pokemon passing by. There's a reason they're called legendary and mythical. This also means that you will not be catching one either.
- You are allowed to create four characters For each character, I ask that you make a separate account for them please. It's much easier to keep track of people when they have their own accounts. Your first character may only have a starter pokemon, level five. Your second character may have a starter and a second, non-rare pokemon, both level five. Your third character may have three pokemon, two non-rare and their starter (still all level 5). However, you must be in an active thread with your first character before you may create your second character. Same goes for your second before you create your third character. You may only have three canons
FAQs
- What kind of character can I make? Well, when it comes to making an OC, you may be a trainer, coordinator, ranger, or a Team Nova member. Canon characters are available and their occupation is listed right after them. When it comes to the Team Nova 'canons', those are actually your own Original Characters with the same benefits of being a canon character. So it sort of gives you an incentive to be one.
- May I create a trainer with a preset team? I'm sorry, but no. I've seen too many sites where this is allowed and people have tons of super awesome pokemon in super high levels and it takes all the fun out of those sorts of things.
- Can my original character be a gym leader/elite four member? Again, sorry, but no. This also would allow for a preset team which I have said no to. If you'd like to be a gym leader or elite four member, please take a look at our canon list.
- How can we possibly stand a chance to win if we only have level five pokemon? Team Nova members must adhere to these rules as well. There is also a money system in place where you may buy levels and new pokemon, so your pokemon will not stay at level 5 forever.
- Why are the prices for things so high? I have labeled the prices for things based on what I believe is fair. If you really want something on here, then you must be willing to earn it. Besides, won't you feel more accomplished after you've worked really hard to finally get something you want? If you truly believe a price should be adjusted, please post in the suggestion board with your reason and a suggestion for the new price.
- If I pick a canon character, wouldn't they get an awesome team? Yes and no. To keep things relatively fair, there is a level cap of 30 for preset canon teams. And you may only choose 5 pokemon for them. I know this sounds a tad silly since they're severely weakened, but it keeps things in line. If you make a canon, not all pokemon may be level thirty. There must be a variety. Also, if someone wants a Charizard, let's say, then it would have to be a Charmeleon because it doesn't evolve until level 36.
- Can a canon character be the first character I make? Yes, that's quite alright but make sure you adhere to the rules for them. They have a level cap of 30 for now and you may only choose five pokemon for them.
- If I make a canon as my first character and an original character as my second character, does my original character get a starter pokemon AND a second pokemon? Yes, actually. A second character is a second character. But remember, your first character must be in an active thread before you may create your second character.
- Why are you so mean? I just want to keep this place fair and fun for people. If you think I'm being mean with these rules then you're free not to join. No one is forcing you to join and I most certainly am not if you don't like me.
- So I herd u liek Mudkipz? Yes, I love mudkips, but don't type like this. Chatspeak is not approved of, especially in character.
